Makinde To Remove NNPP Flag From My House ~ Olopoeyan
As PDP Leaders Woo Him
In a bid to extend its occupancy at Agodi government house beyond 2027, the leadership of the Oyo State People’s Democratic Party has taken a measure notch higher as leaders and stakeholders of the Party visited the home of Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan in a bid to woo him back to the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections.
It could be recalled that Alhaji Olopoeyan had announced his resignation from the New Nigerian People’s Party last week. In a release made last week, Olopoeyan said he was resigning from the NNPP and would announce his new political party soon.
The Co-Chairman, Oyo State Elders Forum and the leader of the delegate, Elder Wole Oyelese said If Engr Seyi Makinde as the leader of the PDP in Oyo State and the Vice Chairman, Nigeria Governor's Forum sent a delegation to a place then it's important. He said despite the disagreement between Governor Makinde and Alhaji Bisi Olopoeyan, he said the duo still maintained a healthy relationship outside politics which saw the PDP ceding certain percentage of sharing formula to the NNPP during the supervisory councillors and special assistant selections.
He eulogised Alhaji Olopoeyan as a thorough- bred politician who is known across the State and it was his popularity which brought NNPP to limelight and his subsequent resignation from the party has signaled the end of the party in Oyo State.
He said what the PDP has come to do is not only to woo him back to the PDP but also to let him know that the Party is willing and ready for his return back to its folds.
The former minister also said Nigerians are only waiting for the PDP to put its house in order because the APC government has clearly shown that they have failed the Nigerian people.
In his address, the former chairman of the PDP in Oyo State, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha said long before today, he has always been coming to visiting Alhaji Olopoeyan to ensure his return back to the PDP. He said they have labored too hard for the party to return to power and to opt out when the aspirations have been fulfilled.
Chief Oribayo Okeyode said he implored Alhaji Bisi to return back to the party he has once labored for. He took Olopoeyan down the memory of lane of how they trained under the strong man of Ibadan politics, Alhaji Lamide Ariyibi Adedibu.
While addressing the gathering, the Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party in Oyo State, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, said the caliber of the delegate that came to visit Alhaji Olopoenia showed how important he is to the PDP. He said when he received the news of Alhaji Olopoeyan's resignation, he consulted with Governor Makinde who gave his nod.
The Party scribe said irrespective of any Party Alhaji Olopoeyan is, he still remains a member of the PDP at heart.
He said he has no doubt that Alhaji Olopoeyan will be back to the PDP in no time. He assured members of the New Nigerian People’s Party not to entertain any fear of rejection as they have a worthy and strong leader who is enough to get for them what is due to them.
While responding, Alhaji Bisi Olopoeyan said bygones are already bygones. He said when he and Governor Makinde had misunderstanding, he enjoyed goodwill from many people closer to the Governor who have never allowed his misunderstanding with the Governor cause a wedge between them.
He said when he had misunderstanding with the Governor, he and the Gov still maintained harmonious relationship which was unknown to many people.
He said the Governor Makinde had given him an explicit order not to remove the NNPP flag as it would be him, the Governor who would remove it himself.
He commended the PDP delegation for the honour done to him as he assured them of continued supports.
The delegation team included Elder Wole Oyelese, Chief Oribayo Okeyode, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, Dr. Nurein Adeniran, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, Hon. Biodun Babalola, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, Alhaji Rahman Olanrewaju Adepoju, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, Alhaji Akeem Azeez, Hon. Isiaka Fatokun, Hon. Mufutau Ogunremi, Hon. Waheed Gbadegesin, Hon.
