The BCOS Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has commended the Oyo state governor,Engineer Seyi Makinde for the confirmation of appointment of Mr Peter Àjàyí as the General Manager of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State. Wizkid Loses Mum Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Wizkid has lost his mother. Wizkid's mum, Mrs Jane Dolapo Balogun, died at around 1.30 am, Friday. Confirming the incident, Sunday Are, Wizkid's longtime manager said Mrs Balogun died in the early hours of Friday. "Yes, she died this morning, at about 1.30 am," Sunday Are said. The late Mrs. Balogun is also the mother to two other children, Yetunde Balogun and Lade Balogun.

BREAKING:  MAKINDE APPROVES CAR LOAN FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS The Oyo State Government has approved the immediate release of car loans for primary school teachers, across all zones in the state. This was disclosed today in Ibadan by the coordinating Director, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Mr. Jacob Dairo, who stated that the loan is coming as a palliative to teachers in the state. He said the loan which is to be distributed in many tranches is to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy, on Oyo State primary school teachers. According to him, the scheme was graciously approved by the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, who has instructed that the loan be provided to all teachers, without any favoritism. The coordinating Director therefore, advised the beneficiaries to use the support judiciously for the intended purpose. The facility which is to be granted by financial institutions, is to be redeemed within 40 months.

Hon Abiodun Babalola representing Ibadan North East constituency 1 has moved a motion at plenary on the urgent need to investigate violent gun clashes at Odo-Osun area of Ibadan on the 25th July, 2023 between two drug gangs. According to Hon. Babalola while presenting the motion on the floor of the house, at least five persons were shot during the clash and one of them a 53-year old man, Mr Mudashiru Osungbemi sustained gunshot injury in the eye and this made him go totally blind. He added that one of the leaders of the said gang nicknamed “Packaging” was the mastermind of an attack on the police team that arrested two notorious drug miscre ants on January 21, 2021. The Oyo State House of Assembly at its Tuesday plenary eulogized Governor Seyi Makinde for the rehabilitation of roads across the State under Omituntun 1.0. The Lawmakers also appealed to the State Governor to commence the rehabilitation of the deplorable roads across Oyo State under Omituntun 2.0. This came up for discussion during deliberations on two motions brought to the House.  One was a motion on the need to put measures in place to commence construction of the 16.7km Aawe-Apaara-Apetu-Emi Abata-Oba river-Iwo Ate-Ife Odan and the approved Iresaapa-Iresaadu phase 2, Mowolowo-Iwo Ate phase 1and Ipeba to Ajaawa road in OgoOluwa/Surulere State Constituency.  The second motion was a passionate appeal to Governor Makinde for the reconstruction of Wofun-Kute-Jenriyin road in Lagelu LG and others like that across Oyo State.

Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, on Saturday, announced the short-term plans of the administration to mitigate the effects of the fuel subsidy removal on residents of the state, saying that his administration will continue to put the interest of the people first. The governor, who gave this indication in a state-wide broadcast, maintained that food security, transportation and the sectors are among the immediate areas being targeted by the government to alleviate the economic difficulties facing residents of the state. This was as the governor directed civil servants to resume to their duty posts on Monday, as his government will pay the two months deductions owed the workers with their August salary, while it will also explore further options on dialogue.
